Alena Vanková is a graduate of the Nuclear Energy study program, which she completed with honors in 2009. She prepared her diploma thesis on the topic "Calculation of the criticality of the VVER-440 reactor using the Monte Carlo transport code" under the guidance of Assoc. Prof. Ing. Ján Haščík, PhD., at the Institute of Nuclear and Physical Engineering. Already during her studies at the faculty, she demonstrated endurance, patience, a thirst for knowledge, and leadership skills, which she further developed with great dedication after her studies at the Mochovce nuclear power plant.
Thanks to her knowledge from her studies and personal qualities such as composure and excellent logical thinking, she quickly advanced from the position of secondary circuit operator to the head of the reactor block. She is one of the first three women directly responsible for the safety and operation of a nuclear reactor in Slovakia. Alena later served as head of nuclear safety and currently works as the operation management manager at the Mochovce Nuclear Power Plant, overseeing two nuclear blocks.
We know Alena at the faculty as a young, talented, friendly, and determined woman who is not afraid of challenges and pursues her dreams. We are proud of her successes and achievements!
