Distributed renewable energy systems (DRES) enable generation of clean, affordable energy near the point of use, enhancing grid resilience, reducing carbon emissions and providing access to remote areas. Monitoring and controlling these is increasingly complex. The EU-funded ECS4DRES project aims to make DRES smarter, safer and more reliable. It will develop local multimodal energy hubs that generate, store and balance power from multiple renewable energy sources using high-efficiency electronics and AI-driven management software. ECS4DRES will leverage advanced sensors, low-latency communication networks and intelligent algorithms, all tested across five real-world demonstrators. The solutions will benefit electricity network operators, electric vehicle charging providers, energy communities and everyday consumers worldwide, accelerating the clean energy transition.
BOOSTER - Boost of Organic Solar Technology for European Radiance

| Project Code | 952911 |
| Funding Scheme | HORIZON |
| Solution time: | 1.7.2020 - 28.2.2027 |
| Project budget: | € 8 277 054,12 |
The BOOSTER project targets the deployment of organic photovoltaic (OPV) technology to the building applied photovoltaic (BAPV) market. OPV is a technology that addresses the challenge of global energy production with an eco-responsible approach. Manufacturing OPV modules via printing techniques features a low energy-payback-time (EPBT) and uses resources that are abundant, easily accessible and non-toxic. Additionally, OPV demonstrates properties (flexibility, lightweight) that make it easily suitable for BAPV. Recently, the technology benefited from a rapid progress of performances with development of advanced materials. The project BOOSTER aims at bringing the OPV technology to a TRL 7 by increasing efficiency, lifetime together with optimizing costs and lowering carbon footprint.

Post-quantum cryptography (PQC) and quantum cryptography, including quantum key distribution (QKD), offer different capabilities for securing sensitive communication in the decades to come. However, the two research communities so far have minimal collaboration. This project designs, analyzes, and implements a cryptographic protocol for secure group communication on distributed, hybrid networks, integrating PQC and QKD as available on the distributed network infrastructure. We explicitly address the critical task of key management and train young scientists across the PQC and QKD research communities.

DELISA-LTO: DEscription of the extended LIfetime and its influence on the SAfety operation and construction materials performance – Long Term Operation with no compromises in the safety
| Institute | Institute of Nuclear and Physical Engineering |
| Responsible Researcher | prof. Ing. Vladimír Slugeň, DrSc. |
| Project Code | 101061201 |
| Funding Scheme | EURATOM2027 |
| Solution time: | 1.6.2022 - 31.7.2026 |
| Project budget: | € 3 276 263,06 |
The DELISA-LTO project aims to deliver a comprehensive description of degradation mechanisms affecting selected components, such as steam generator tubes and primary pipes, using materials obtained from decommissioned NPPs. The decommissioning of two V1 units in Slovakia offers a rare opportunity to study materials exposed to real operational conditions (approx. 28–29 fuel campaigns). Different components in the primary circuit exhibit varying degradation mechanisms, requiring a range of test methods, including Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), structural and substructural analysis, and mechanical testing. The integration of simulation tools with experimental techniques is essential to understanding thermal ageing and swelling. Harvested materials mainly include primary circuit components such as main circulation piping and pressurizer surge lines, primarily made of stainless steels.

The rise of the Internet of Things (IoT) and IoT-Edge-Cloud continuum technologies has enabled greater introduction and adoption of smart space ecosystems and other sensor technologies. This has led to the emergence of Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) systems, which face challenges in acquiring trustworthy data. In this context, the EU-funded PANDORA project aims to develop an innovative framework that will enable the efficient transport of trustworthy smart space datasets to AIoT systems while also guaranteeing their safe and green deployment. The project will use techniques for data collection and AI operation in smart space ecosystems, followed by the development of methods for ensuring safety and efficiency in their continual operation.

We realize the importance of cybersecurity in today's world, and therefore we want to help our target audiences (VET students and teachers, university students, as well as wider public) to be *aware* of various types of attacks and the methods of defense against them. Different types of learning content is being developed, including self-study materials (10 topics covered in English, Spanish, Czech and Slovak) and online laboratories (10 sets), to make our students *educated* in cybersecurity. We aim at three main areas of topics: cyber hygiene, attack and defense techniques, and cybersecurity in programming. The ultimate goal is that more people will become *safe*.
